Marta Machado is Deputy Director General of HOTREC, the European umbrella association representing hotels, restaurants and cafés. She has been with HOTREC for 15 years and, as a jurist, works across a broad range of EU policy and legislative issues affecting the hospitality sector, with a particular focus on tourism, sustainability and social affairs.

Before joining HOTREC, Marta worked at the Portuguese Permanent Representation to the European Union and as an assistant to a Member of the European Parliament. She has also gained experience in communications and European affairs.

Marta holds a degree in Law and a Master’s degree in European Administrative and Political Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges.
