The prospect of a larger European Union is moving from long-term ambition to an increasingly practical question. Candidate countries are advancing their bids for membership, while war, geopolitical competition and economic pressures are reshaping the conditions in which Enlargement must take place.

On 3 November 2026, the Euronews EU Enlargement Summit will bring together policymakers, political leaders, experts and business representatives in Brussels, with the debate broadcast live to Euronews audiences.

The summit will examine what the next phase of Enlargement could mean for the EU and its prospective members. Discussions will focus on the progress of candidate countries, the reforms, commitments and institutional changes required on both sides, and the economic opportunities and implications of Enlargement.

Beyond the question of who joins, the debate will explore how Enlargement could reshape European security, democracy, economic competitiveness and strategic autonomy.

A bigger Union is one question. What kind of Union comes next is another.

Join the conversation in Brussels on 3 November 2026.
